Far too often in today’s videogames, publishers seem to forget the most important aspect of a game – that it should be FUN to play! Sometimes they seem to get lost in their flashy graphics and concern themselves too much with what they can do with a game console’s hardware rather than what they should do in their game. That’s why the National Videogame Museum launched the NVM Seal in 2020.

The NVM Seal is awarded to games that adhere to the core values in gaming found in the best games throughout the history of the videogame industry. Traits such as fun over flashiness, family friendly over gratuitous violence and truth in marketing are the types of qualities players and parents can expect to see in games exhibiting the NVM Seal.
